Notable Women of New Jersey 2019
Each year we celebrate Women’s History Month by inviting some of the state’s most accomplished women to speak at the library. We have hosted panels of outstanding speakers from the worlds of business, sports, arts and letters, politics, and medicine. This year is no exception!

- Bonni Guerin, MD is an oncologist and hematologist and the Director of Breast Cancer Treatment and Prevention at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Medical Center. Dr. Guerin is also actively involved in the delivery of highly-specialized immunotherapy for the treatment of melanoma and kidney cancer.
- Mila Jasey represents the 27th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly. She was first elected to the Assembly in 2007 and serves as the Deputy Speaker, Chair of Higher Education Committee, and on several other committees.
- Ingrid Steffensen is a former college professor turned race car driving instructor. She taught art and architectural history at Princeton, Rutgers, NJIT, and Bryn Mawr. She wrote a book, Fast Girl: Don’t Brake Until You See the Face of God and Other Good Advice from the Racetrack.
- Kate Tomlinson is Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of New Jersey Monthly. Before joining New Jersey Monthly, Ms. Tomlinson worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional aide and a researcher, and as an economist at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
The panel will be moderated by Myriam Alvarez, journalist and writer, author of the historical novel Flowers in the Dust.
