Library Director

Karen Brodsky

Since 2013, Karen has led the Library of the Chathams with a clear vision: to cultivate an innovative, community-centered institution where people of all ages come to connect, learn, and create—far more than a building with books.

With more than two decades of public library leadership, including serving as Director of the Bernardsville and Mendham Borough public libraries, Karen brings expertise in library administration, information management, operations, and organizational leadership. Her diverse professional background includes leadership roles in healthcare, corporate information management, and business operations, providing a strong foundation in technology, human resources, compliance, marketing, and strategic management. She is also certified as a New Jersey Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) and a Google Apps for Education Trainer.

A strategic and forward-thinking leader, Karen has guided the Library through significant growth by improving operations, preserving its history, establishing a dedicated Teen Room, and securing grant funding to support future renovations.

Karen is recognized for building strong partnerships with local organizations, upholding the Library as a trusted community resource. Her collaborative leadership and innovative mindset continue to shape the Library as a welcoming place where everyone belongs.
