Ann Meany, retired director of the Bernards Township Library with a degree in Literature from Brooklyn College, will present a series of lectures on James Joyce’s, A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man. Critics recognize that Joyce’s novels represent a unique contribution to the art of fiction.  This novel features a series of 19 vignettes, each written in a different style, reflecting the developing consciousness of the artist-hero.  Lectures will be held at 1 pm on Tuesdays, September 12, 19, 26, and October 3.   A $40 fee for this series is required payable to the Friends of the Library by September 8. Please read Chapter I before the first class. You can reserve a copy of the book at the Information Desk.
