Super Science: Oobleck (Chemistry)

The twin team of CHS students Lea and Jack Casano-Boris returns for a summer series of Super Science for Kids classes!  Each class includes an experiment and an explanation of the science behind that experiment.  Classes will be conducted online via Zoom.  Before the class, the students will receive a Zoom link, instructions for preparation, and will have to pick up a supply kit using the library’s Takeout service.  Experiments can get a little messy, and parents’ supervision and help is required for all classes.

On August 10, we will make oobleck from cornstarch and water.  When these two ingredients are mixed together, they form what is called a “non-Newtonian fluid” – a substance that acts as both a solid and a liquid.  Oobleck is a bit messy, but it is one of the coolest introductory-level experiments and much fun!

Grades 1 to 3                                                        Limit: 10 students

Each class requires separate registration, opening two weeks prior to the class.

Registration limited to Chatham residents only.
