Chess for Kids Group 1

Chess Expert Sean Finn returns to the library to teach chess – this time virtually via Zoom.  Students will learn game strategy, basic checkmates, new tactical patterns, and the best questions to ask themselves when evaluating a position and creating a plan.  Using a combination of the best online chess platforms available, classes will include puzzle solving, game analysis and of course a chance to play.

Group 1 is for players with little or no experience.  Suggested ages: 6 to 8.  Limit: 12 students

Sign up only if you can attend all 6 classes.

Guest Storytellers: Miss Jill and Miss Peggy Ages 3 & Under

While Storytime with Miss Betty is on hiatus, we welcome guest storytellers to read books to our youngest library patrons.

Jill Mills is the school librarian at Milton Avenue School.  Her extracurricular student work includes after-school enrichment programs and tutoring.  Miss Jill is active in many professional library communities and is the mother of two grown daughters.

Peggy Melvin is a retired Kindergarten teacher from Milton Avenue School where she met Mrs. Mills and became instant friends. Miss Peggy has two grown (past Chatham graduates) children. She loves to read, do crafts and help others.
