Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be held on Wednesdays, February 7 to April 11 from 10 am to 2 pm.  Appointments for this free service may be made in person or by calling the library at 973-635-0603.  Please bring all your financial records from 2017, copies of your 2016 Federal and State tax returns, all printed and blank forms from the Internal Revenue Service, and proof of Social Security for all dependents filing.  Please sign up at the library or call 973-635-0603.

CALL: The History and Politics of North Korea

Dr. Roy Licklider, Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University with a Ph.D. in Internal Relations from Yale, will present a two-part lecture series on Tuesdays, February 13 and 20 at 1 pm on the history and politics of North Korea. We will examine its history from 8000 BC through its dynasties, wars, and relationships with the Soviet Union, China, and the U.S. We will also look at present-day North Korea with its dependence on foreign aid for food, its tight political control by a young and untested leader, its move toward nuclear weapons, threats about conquering South Korea and waging war against the U.S. This is a free CALL series. Irish Music Concert with Ian Gallagher and John Nolan

Ian Gallagher, an Irish singer and guitarist, will perform Irish classics along with accordion player John Nolan on Saturday, February 24 at 2:30 pm.  Ian has performed at events attended or hosted by Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, Mary Higgins Clark, and Frank McCourt.  John became the first American to win the Senior All-Ireland Championship Accordion Player Award in 1982.  Please join us, and enjoy the music from this traditional duo.

Diabetes Prevention

Ellen Kanefuss, Diabetes Prevention Coordinator at the Madison YMCA, will host a question and answer session on the prevention of type 2 diabetes. Participants will learn how to assess their risk and explore prevention options. Currently, one in three Americans are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
