Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration

From 1892 to 1924, millions of immigrants sailed past the Statue of Liberty and were processed through Ellis Island on their way to search for opportunity and a better life in the United States.  Part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument and the National Park Service, the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration tells those century-old stories as well as the history of immigration to the United States.  Join a park ranger to learn about the museum, the processing of immigrants over a century ago, and the genealogical resources available, such as ships’ manifests, to learn more about those who immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island.

Principle Lives in Us--People of African Descent in the American Revolution
