ESL (English as a Second Language)

For those wanting to improve their English language skills, this series of classes spans 8 weeks from September 13 to November 1.  The program will be conducted by Language Education and Resource Network (LEARN) and volunteer tutors.  Students will be divided into small groups by skill level.  The program is free – all you need is a commitment to learn!  Register online, in person, or call 973-635-0603.

Comic Book Creation Workshop with Comic Book Artist Doug Baron

Grades 6 to 12

Limit: 20 students      Registration required

Learn the basics of telling a story through a series of pictures. You will begin to think of each drawing as being viewed through an imaginary camera using different camera angles. Lighting, word balloons, sound effects and inking will be demonstrated as well. Doug will help you create and design your own characters.

Art Show with Ed Schuh

Chatham resident, Ed Schuh will hold a show of his watercolor, oil, and mixed media landscape and nature paintings here through October. Mr. Schuh has been a professional artist for over 35 years and is a graduate of Seton Hall University, and the Newark School for Fine and Industrial Art. He is the past president of The Chatham Art League, and a member of the Drew Art Association, and the Essex Water Color Club. An opening reception, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will be held on Sunday, October 7 from 2:15 to 4 pm. All are welcome to attend.
