CALL: Virtual Tours of the Cloisters and the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Michael Norris, Ph.D and retired art educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for over 20 years, will present a four part series on the collections at the Cloisters and the Metropolitan Museum.  The virtual tours will include A Stroll through the Medieval Masterpieces of the Met’s  Cloisters; A Virtual Stroll Through the Met’s Egyptian Art; A Virtual Tour of Ancient Greek Art at the Met; and a Virtual Tour of Paintings  of the Dutch Golden Age.  The series will be held on Wednesdays, April 4, 11, 18 and 25 at 11:30 am.  A fee of $40 will be charged for the course.  Registration forms will be available at the library.  To reserve space, you may sign up online; however, you must still register at the library.

Homework Helpers

Grades K to 5

Limit: 6 children per week         Registration for each session will open 2 weeks prior

Two Chatham High School students will be providing homework help to students after school every other Wednesday.  All subjects welcome.

Look Up!: Get to Know Chatham's Trees

Ages 6 to 9

Rain date: Tuesday, May 8

In celebration of Arbor Day, join us for a nature walk, a story and a craft as you learn about different types of trees.  Find out which animals use the trees for shelter or food.  Go on a walking tour behind the library and get to know some of Chatham’s trees up close!  Make your own tree guide to take home.  Presented by Colleen Truppo, Chatham Borough Shade Tree Commission

Writing a Winning Analytical Essay

MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS

Former Pingry English teacher and Creative Writing instructor at NYU, Alisha Davlin will help you understand the process of how to approach a topic, brainstorm, and execute your ideas to create a successful essay.  The skills learned in this accelerated two-part writing workshop will serve you in high school, college, and beyond.

Registration is limited to Chatham residents only.  Residents of other towns may participate if space permits.

Rocks in the Garden: A Public History of Slavery in Morristown

Lecturer, Michael Snyder will discuss his findings on local slave owners and the enslaved who resided in Morristown and the surrounding area.  We will discover who they were, how they lived and were treated, and the problems slavery created in the community. Mr. Snyder is a Rutgers graduate who wrote his masters’ thesis entitled: The Enslaved Slept Here Too:  A Public History of Slavery in Morris County.  Please join us Wednesday, April 25 at 7 pm.
