For a library to be the best community resource it can be, it needs the type of community support and engagement recently exemplified by a generous donation made by the Woman’s Club of Chatham.

Terry Kandalaft, president of the Woman’s Club of Chatham, with the unanimous approval of the Club’s Executive Board, has offered a donation from the Club to Fred Pocci, President of the Board of Trustees of the Library of the Chathams to help establish a new Teen Room at the Library.

Ms. Kandalaft stated, “When we made our decision, we agreed there is just no other service beyond our schools that has been of greater educational value than our library.  It is one of the crown jewels of our community.”

The new Teen Room will be an invaluable resource, filling a social and educational gap, complete with expert librarians available to help student scholars. It will be a place for study, for intellectual and creative growth and exploration, and for meeting or working together with peers.

The library invites interested students, parents, and civic organizations to contribute toward the $100,000 needed to cover the remaining cost of the project.
